INDOOR NETS – WHITGIFT SCHOOL – WEDNESDAY 14 MARCH - 18 APRIL 2012 8.30pm

All adult players are invited to indoor nets at Whitgift. We have 3 dedicated nets every Wednesday starting on 14 March for a 6 week programme until 18 April. Nets are from 8.30-10pm. Please come and prepare for the new season and support your skippers and your club by attending. The committee have decided that this will be free to players this year and new players of all standards are welcome. First games of the new season are on Saturday 21 April with the League starting on 5 May.

Graham Gooch  at the Club Supper

Graham GoochThis year we went back to the age old format of three speakers, with Captain Ali Raja kicking off with a certain review of the year bringing an alternative view.  Everyone then returned to hear OW Association President Pip Burley proposing a vote to the club before the main act in master batsman Graham Gooch.

Graham was the best speaker for many years with a wide range of stories whist explaining the virtues of hair treatment to Chairman Stuart and film star/former left arm spinner Richard Ronald.  Stories from far and wide came through with a few themes emerging as you would expect – Boycott and Botham figuring regularly.  After almost an hour of speaking Graham offered an encore for questions and was finally curtailed at 2335.

Everyone present enjoyed the evening and will all have taken away their favourite stories
